tracking miles

Ran 1.35 miles today. One mile was a warm up. Then did a strength/endurance workout from Men's Health magazine, then a .35 mile cooldown.

I had originally planned to run another mile after that workout, but it wasn't going to happen. I'm leaning towards trying to do a 5k every month this year (with some 10ks thrown in and potentially a half marathon or marathon, too, but I have to think about things considering that I also need to do more strength training...decisions, decisions).

Total miles ran: 1.35

New year, new post

Lots of stuff planned for 2012, not the least of which is my upcoming wedding! But, since it's the first week of the new year, I'm kicking it off with a couple of resolution type things. Namely, I want to look really fucking good for my wedding. I started that process by buying new suits from Jos. A Bank last week (buy one, get two free...I'm going to look awesome! And for cheap!)

But I also need to lose weight so I don't have multiple chins in my wedding photos that will sit on my wall and mantle for the rest of my days.

Thus, I'm going to track my weight and my mileage on the blog (along with things I like to cook and stuff I read).

I'll go back to what I did a few years ago when I biked 2,000 miles in 2008 (or whatever year that was)...which means I'll be mostly guessing my biking mileage. I assume I bike at a speed of about 16-17 mph and since I bike indoors on a trainer (and usually for an hour), I'll call it 15 mph because it makes the math way easier.

So, this year, I've biked 27 miles. Later today I plan to run at least a mile or so in the company gym, and I should be able to track that more accurately, but I run about a 12:30 mile when I jog, so I'll do a lot of estimating on that, too. No running yet this year because it's, like, winter, and stuff.

I'll also track my weight because, as I said, I want to finally drop the belly fat I've gained (and getting sized for the suit was depressing as I've gone way up in suit sizes since I last bought one). I weighed in this morning at 214.6 pounds. If I can lose one pound per week I'll be under 200 by the wedding for the first time in way too long, and health benefits, yada, yada, yada.

Small steps, though.

January 3 totals: 214.6 pounds, 27 miles traveled.

Happy new year, y'all.
